"I have tried to write this tribute so many times and failed to do so. The failing is because I have not found all the right words to convey our love and deep affection for Aunty Joke. Perhaps the greatest tribute I can pay is that she was like a mother to us all. She was always there. When my first born came into being and we were desperate for help as first time parents, Aunty Joke was the first to volunteer and jump on a plane to help us. She did all she could for weeks without complaint, without a break, and without expecting anything in return. This was a rare gift. Both of my children were so very fond of her, and it has been painful to explain to them she is no longer with us.
